Fan Creek, Bacon Rind Creek
The Gallatin River 7/29/05 Y.N.P.
After a slow start on the Gallatin River we stop to try the "Bacon Rind" Creek.
The Bacon Rind was reported to contain Cutthroat and Rainbow according to our fishing guide books. Here is a nice little Rainbow. |
The Bacon Rind Creek, a tributary to the Gallatin River.
We soon found out that Brown trout made there way into the creek from the Gallatin River as well.
Fan Creek, Located in Northwest section of Yellowstone National Park.
Although considered a noxious weed this thistle displays some beautiful colors.
A Fan Creek cutthroat caught on a Royal Wulff cripple pattern.
Another cutthroat goes back to the water to fight again.
Another streamside flower.
What a great time catching these feisty little cutt's.
A Rainbow this time.
We all go back to the earth.

We notice a big hole in the side of the cliff on the east side of the Gallatin river so I scrambled up to get a look and a few photos. Thinking to myself "wow this really looks familiar" I remembered one of the photos in the book "The Yellowstone Fly Fishing Guide" by Mathews & Molinero so I looked and sure enough the same photo is on page 23. |

Back to the Water.
We finished out the day on Fan Creek.
