The Lamar River & over the

Beartooth Mountains 7/27/05

The Lamar River Canyon. I've seen this sight many times and never seem to get tired of the view.

Yellowstone Cutthroat caught on "The Puffhead".

This is a size 14 Puffhead heavily damaged by the fish. The way I like to tear up a fly.

Another look at the fly trasher!

Time to cool off. Jim & Bill taking a break just east of what I call the crystal cliffs.

Bill and one of the locals.

I saw a stonefly like this one fall into the water and get gulped down by a trout within 2 seconds.

After spending most of the day fishing (and catching!) we pack it up and head toward Cody for a visit to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center this means a drive through the Beartooth mountains and over the old Nez Perce trail.

The sun was starting to set when we approached Dead Indian Pass.

As we made our way up the Pass the photos got more and more colorful.

Taken from a series of photos pieced together.

After a few more minutes.

More colorful by the second.

Nothing like a Rocky Mountain sunset.

A little Nez Perce history. Click on the photos for a large view to read.
