Quinault River 6-2-04

My first day of fishing for the season begins...

This is where I emerged out of the woods wishing that I had never wore the neoprene's I was wearing. The water looked pretty high so I thought I would need some waders. The river was raging (although you can't tell from this photo) and I was able to only wade a little bit as it ended up. I did however find out that my new glasses didn't work worth a **** for sweaty fishing trips and continuously fell down to the end of my nose. No waders next time...

I saw what looked like a fine holding spot and plopped this muddler pattern into the water. Wham! Fish on. It looked like a nice rainbow and put up a very nice fight... so nice I lost em. Well I thought, not bad for the first hole.

A beautiful scene.

Some company on the river bank.

Another view of the river. Graves creek empties into the Quinault on the right.

We are in a temperate rainforest around here and mushrooms grow everywhere.

An expanded view of the river from the bridge.

After stumbling around some more, loosing another fish and breaking my sage 5wt rod. I called it a day. Gee I hope the rest of the season goes better then day one.

After getting home I took this photo of the beach sunset.
