Big Creek, Paradise Valley,

and The Gardner River Montana 7-22/23-2007

After driving from the west fork we head up big creek to fish a bit and look for a place to camp for the night.

Big creek holds nice feisty rainbows.

The Yellowstone river.

Antelope heads poke up above the grass, looks like a nice cool place to bed down.

If I only knew that the truck battery was completely shot and would need to be replaced I might be looking for a jump start rather then tying flies. btw did I mention it was Sunday and car batteries might be a little hard to find in the middle of nowhere, the closest town being Gardner Montana.

After getting a jump off we head to Gardner, oh we don't realize the battery is bad until we get stranded in Gardner.

After my wife's persistence we get a new battery and fish the Gardner with little luck in the mid day sun.

Back on Big Creek things are looking a little better in the fishing department.

After getting a new battery we arrive at the Big Creek Station a cool forest service cabin on Big Creek north of Yellowstone.

Hanging out at the Big Creek cabin for a few nights.

Ten minutes just outside the cabin and I had dinner... yes occasionally I like to have one for the table.

A modified double wing.

A typical view of Big creek... very rough and tumble. A creek with an attitude makes for some fun fishing.

Big creek fishing in mid July... bring plenty of deet and watch out for the stinging nettle.

Go Back...
