Yellowstone National Park Trip 10/2/03

OK, the Jim & Bill quest for fish continues. After waking up to a cold morning at the Grizzly Lodge we plot our plan for the day. We will further explore the lower Lamar canyon then we will walk up Slough creek & fish the pocket water as we go. Sounds like a fine idea to me. That means we will be fishing within a half an hour. YES!

Click on the pictures for a larger photo.

Just one of the many bison in the park. Soda butte creek is on the right side of the photo.

I'll start off with this size 14... um, something or other...

Jim hooks one right away.

Looks like he's having fun.

Woops, it ends up being foul hooked. Ever notice that this makes the fish feel twice as big?

Here is a photo of my first fish of the day. Using the fly in the photo near the top of the page.

And here is where that last cutthroat came from.

Another gets released.

Walking among the boulders you see some interesting rocks & crystals.

This one had some great looking red coloration.

We saw some large crystal pockets in the canyon walls also.

Momentarily distracted from fishing we take a few photos.

OK, now that's what I'm talking bout.

I'll miss you Mr. Trout...

I tied up few of these the night before and they worked well as you can see.

Beached for only a moment, this Yellowstone Cutt is soon released to fight again.

Hey, let's do that again.

Classic, Fish On!

Bill declares Victory!

What a pose.

Ditto...

Had to get the net out for this one.

Kind of a neat shot.

That last cutt was right under this foam.

Just playing around.

Peek a boo...

And now the walk out and on to Slough creek.

Part II - On to Slough Creek.

 Slough creek shows it's colors.

Pretty.

Can't keep em' off.

Slough creek canyon can offer some great fishing.

Well, time to make our way north to Gardner...
