Yellowstone National Park Trip 10/1/03
Click on the pictures for a larger photo.
One last look at the cabin before we leave for a little mountain exploration.
In this picture of Cooke city notice the police car on the left.
I happen to know it's been parked in the same spot for at least 5 years.

Hmm... looks like a fun road to explore.
I wouldn't recommend going into these mines to anyone. Most are collapsed and very dangerous.
Having said that. Jim & I being the adventurous sort couldn't resist
getting some photo's of some of the stable areas. This is a view looking straight up.
Some very interesting mineral formations on the walls of the mine. Click the photo for a closer look.
An old ore car still full.
Crystals.
Ahh... back to daylight.
Something was living in the entrance to this mine.
Old pump.
A drill for dynamite holes.
This isn't as old as some north of Cooke city.
We all know what this was used for.
The Lamar Canyon (again).
After exploring we bolt like a couple of madmen to the river for our daily trout fix.
A view on the way. This photo really doesn't do this valley justice (Lamar valley YNP).
This is the ranch basically saved the north American bison from extinction.
This is a view of the section we fish today.
This is the fly I started out the day with. A #14 modified halo emerger pattern.
The pattern produced immediate results.
Ditto...
These quill patterns did very well. This size 14 poses on a piece of petrified wood.
Fooled this one...
And this one...
One of these days I'll get used to this new camera. Lighting was starting to get bad and so where my photos.
Every pool or hole that looked fishy, was fishy. Even some that didn't look fishy held trout.
After a great day of many trout we retreat to a complementary night (I traded some photographs) at the Grizzly Lodge in Silvergate.
stay tuned more to come...
