Yellowstone National Park Trip 9/30/03

After waking up and having some hot coffee to warm up we headed for Cooke city to reserve a cabin for the night. These particular cabins where old military cabins built during the early day's of the park. I just love this old historical stuff. It turns out that the place was closing for the season and we were lucky to get a cabin that was attached to the main lodge. After a little delay we were off for thr river.

Sign on the road to Cooke city.

Home for the night.

This photo will give a little size perspective.

A view looking down on the Lamar river from the big boulder pictured above.

Old fashioned litter. I haven't seen an old metal can you have to open with an opener in a long time.

OK, back to the river.

First fish of the day! Oncorhynchus clarki bouvieri

This beauty put up a great fight.

That last cutthroat was caught in this large foam pocket. I caught at least 4 in a row out of this hole.

This size 14 did the trick.

Another nice one.

A stonefly molting next to a piece of petrified wood.

More Yellowstone Cutthroat (Oncorhynchus clarki bouvieri)

And again...

Hey, lets do that again.

A Rainbow this time.

More petrified wood.

More fish...

An interesting view.

Out for a quick tan.

Fish food.

Here ya go little fella.

Another view.

The sun goes down and we say goodnight till tomorrow.

stay tuned more to come...
